Desperate Houseflies: The Magazine

Feel free to pull out your trusty fly swatter and comment on what is posted here, realizing that this odd collection of writers may prove as difficult to kill as houseflies and are presumably just as pesky. “Desperate Houseflies” is a magazine that intends to publish weekly articles on subjects such as politics, literature, history, sports, photography, religion, and no telling what else. We’ll see what happens.

A conversation with Al!

All,
I just got through to Al at the church in Ocean Springs. They are staying in a trailer provided by his wife's family. Their house in Jackson County shows water damage seven feet up from the floor. Obviously there is significant sheet rock damage. A sixty-foot tree is lying over their roof. There are about 10 - 15 families that have homes in similar or worse conditions.

For those wishing to send financial aid, recommend a money order sent to either of these addresses:
Ocean Springs Church of Christ
c/o Gateway Church of Christ
245 Brent Lane
Pensacola, FL 32503
(850) 476-4466
or:
Ocean Springs Church of Christ
P.O. Box 34
Ocean Springs, MS 39566

Al had many stories about the storm's fierce wind that blew for 12 - 14 hours. If you know Al, you won't be surprised to hear of his focus on the positive things this storm has provided. Like the chance to talk to some his neighbors for the first time to ensure they would be safe during the storm, and the need for faith some have mentioned to him.

I don't want to steal any of his good info, I'm sure he'll tell it much better. I hope he is able very soon. But specific prayers could be said for his youngest daughter who will attend school in his home state. More specifically we should pray for her Dad who may have the toughest time with the interim separation.

It appears the church does have many needs. Almost anything you can provide could be a valuable resource. If you can assist with the clean-up effort or send cash, both would be appreciated.

You can verify the church's needs by calling (228)875-7811.
