Desperate Houseflies: The Magazine

Feel free to pull out your trusty fly swatter and comment on what is posted here, realizing that this odd collection of writers may prove as difficult to kill as houseflies and are presumably just as pesky. “Desperate Houseflies” is a magazine that intends to publish weekly articles on subjects such as politics, literature, history, sports, photography, religion, and no telling what else. We’ll see what happens.

Breaking News: Science and Religion Reconcilable

Thought some of you might enjoy this interview with Francis Collins, head of the Human Genome Project and an evangelical Christian. He talks about his faith and why in his view it's not incompatible with science. Bonus for Al: Collins got his religious start reading C.S. Lewis's book Mere Christianity. Since folks like me will always be in the minority, hopefully folks like Collins can help keep the unwashed masses from voting to ban science because of the mistaken view that it undermines their faith(s).

I thought this was interesting:

"Science investigates the natural world. If God has any meaning at all, God is outside of the natural world. It is a complete misuse of the tools of science to apply them to this discussion."

I think it's a mistake for atheists to demand a rational, provable explation for god and an even bigger mistake for believers to try to prove god scientifically. Either you believe or you don't - belief is a gift, not an act of will.
